Born in 1975, Hradec Kralové, the Czech Republic. He is a sound engineer and media consultant. David trained first as a pianist and later as an organist. After finishing electro technical high school in Pardubice, he took a degree in Informatics at Brno University. At the same time he began acting as a computer specialist for a number of major organisations: the Interior Ministry of Health (1993-1995), TRUCONEXXION a.s. (1995-1997) and SODAT s.r.o, (1997-1999). In 2002 he combined these interests by completing a Bachelor’s degree in Sound Design at FAMU, the Prague Film Academy in Prague. Since 1996 David has applied his both technical and musical know-how in theatre and orchestral environments. He has worked with the City of Brno’s Goose on a String Theatre (1996-9), and with the Archa Theatre, Prague (since 2000 up to now), and from 2006 he has been the director of technology at the Hradec Kralove Philharmonic. At the same time he has worked independently as a sound designer on a number of major films and TV projects including the international documentary hit Czech Dream (2004) by Filip Remunda and Vít Klusák, Come closer candy (2005) by Pavel Koutecký, Profile (2004, dir. Jakub Wagner) – a documentary profile of Jan Kaplický, music documentary Violin Knight (2006, dir. Pavel Marek) and music preparation for Goya’s Ghosts, (2007, dir. Miloš Forman). David’s expertise in audio and multimedia technologies has been sought in a number of other spheres including the Alternativa Festival (Prague, 1999-2004), the International Roma Music Festival - KHAMORO (since 2002 up to now), Musical Forum, HK, the Open Air Opera Festival, Jazz Goes to Town, and the Respect Music Festival amongst others. He also has long-standing relations with T-servis and Disc Multimedia in a consultancy capacity. Since 2003, David has been working closely with the controversial conductor and composer Varhan Orchestrovič Bauer. He is currently a producer and manager of his orchestra, the Instant Filmic Orchestra. In 2005 David inaugurated his own sound lab, the Bathroom Media House, which fosters new directions, particularly in ethnic music as well as sound design for experimental documentaries and films.
